RailsConf is an event intended for networking and collaboration. We value the participation of each member and want all attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.
RailsConf 2021 is dedicated to providing a harassment-free online and in-person conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, nationality or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not deemed appropriate for our websites, platforms, tools, and social media. Conference participants violating any of these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference, at the discretion of the conference organizers.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to: offensive verbal comments related to gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, neurotype, physical appearance, body size, race, citizenship or religion; sexual images in public spaces; deliberate intimidation; stalking; following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of talks or other events; inappropriate physical contact; and any unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If you experience or witness a violation of this Code of Conduct, please inform an event staff via our event software platform OR email us at (email address) and we will address the situation immediately.
If we receive reports of a participant engaging in harassing behavior, conference organizers may take any action we deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the conference and the contacting of local law enforcement. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns regarding violations of this policy, please contact conference staff immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org.
While there may be an urge to post a complaint on social media, we ask that you give us a chance to resolve this issue directly by contacting us. It’s generally a faster and more effective process.
Having a safe environment for our conference participants is of paramount importance to us, and we value your help towards creating this space. We designed our virtual conference to be a space where everyone feels comfortable to express themselves, feel welcomed, and have a fun and productive time.
Ruby Central, Inc. and all associated members of the RailsConf 2021 planning team are dedicated to providing an environment for our community that is accessible, welcoming, and inclusive. As such, we conduct site visits of conference venues and meeting spaces prior to booking, to ensure that they are barrier-free locations for our attendees.
This is, of course, only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what might be an obstacle to attendance for those interested in RailsConf. As such, we encourage anyone who has questions about whether RailsConf would be the right conference for them to email us at email@example.com -- while we can't promise the ability to accommodate each individual situation, we absolutely commit to listening to every concern and request with an open ear.
All individual Attendee data collected by Ruby Central, Inc. is used for only two purposes. The first is to plan, manage, and execute the event for which the Attendee registered, including emailing Attendees with event details. The second is — if the Attendee opts in only — to send emails with details of Ruby Central conferences (RubyConf and RailsConf) and organizational updates in the next year. Attendees may request to view a copy of their own data, to correct their data, or to delete their data at any point. Attendee data is shared with third-party conference vendors only as necessary. Attendee data is also exposed to Ruby Central, Inc. staff and volunteers as they execute onsite duties. Some aggregated Attendee data is shared with conference Sponsors; Ruby Central, Inc. never shares individual Attendee data with Sponsors. If any Attendee data kept by Ruby Central, Inc. is breached, good faith attempts will be made to notify affected Attendees within 72 hours.
